The last song on my first ever EP. As an artist I've always wanted to put together a coherent body of work, and ending it with Benjamin Button made so much sense to me. I made this song a few months after moving to LA and it feels like a turning point in my sound for years to come. The song is about reconnecting with feelings of childhood and reminding yourself to not take yourself too seriously.

Stubborn was single handedly the song that started my music career. It was the first song I ever truly felt proud of and features my biggest production breakthroughs. I produced this across multiple state lines when doing my second cross country road trip to Los Angeles.

'Pyramids' is the third song from my EP 'The Giant'. It represents a turning point. It’s the darkest moment, where the atmosphere, the sounds, the chords get moody while the drums keep pumping along.
It’s the first track I made for this EP. It reminds me of a certain way of making and thinking music that has become less relevant during all these years. 
Many times I jokingly call my music “backwards-thinking” because I get a lot of ideas from music released 5 to 10 years ago. I think many people forget how many gems were released at that time.

About:

“Fire” is a song that was inspired by the back and forth mind games I used to play with an old love interest. Late nights, lust, passion, and anger are some of the emotions I channelled into this song. Although I found the whole experience with her unbearable at times, we both were attracted to the thrill of it all in the end. It was this duality of emotions that I needed to get off my chest, and thus the creation of “Fire” was born.

Being a creative in a small town doesn’t leave much room for acceptance of individuality, which is something my girlfriend at the time and I experienced together. About:

"Distance" is the first single from my upcoming EP, Ambivalence. The title's definition is, "the state of having mixed feelings or contradictory ideas about something or someone"; which can be a familiar feeling in a relationship when you're both unsure if it's over or not. It's about a long-distance relationship with doubt from the opposite partner due to the distance, written from the perspective of the person trying to keep the relationship afloat.

IDLEWILDE

PINKY PROMISE (IDLEWILDE)

I grew up playing video games. Some of my earliest memories include blowing into NES cartridges and playing Zelda on the OG gameboy.
That type of music has influenced me so much and I find myself holding back from letting it come through in a lot of my original work. It still seems to creep in from time to time though. 
This time around, no holding back. 

Inspired by a lot of childhood memories glued to a screen. It's quite upbeat at 150bpm, a lot of sounds are from the FM synth era of genesis/snes without sounding too "videogamey". Melodically it's pretty happy sounding but I think there's a hint of melancholy. I like playing in that middle ground. Instead of doing straight up vocal chops, I decided to sample various vocals and use them as instruments. In fact, most of the sounds are derived from the human voice. I haven't made a song at 150bpm in a while and I forgot how fun it can be.

MADMEN FEAT. MERLYN WOOD

Harrison and I met on twitter around Aug 2021 (damn, feels forever ago) we connected because of our similar experiences in web3. Harrison launched his social token $FIRST and has been building his community since 2019.

He heard my music, checked out my social token on Rally and we instantly clicked. We didn’t talk collaboration until shortly after but we had a good idea of what we wanted to bring to the world by combining our talents and experience to drop something special.

This is exactly how REAL came about. I had a rough demo of the song and I knew performance wise it was spot on. I scrapped some of my verse parts and made space for Harrison to come and do his thing. He killed it.

The music production on the OG demo was good but I knew it needed to be reworked. Sonically I wanted something cohesive that complemented are parts. I sent the a cappella to my collaborator in Argentina and he did an amazing job at recreating the music and increasing the production value it deserved. Melodically there is a lot subtleties and textures but everything is in its respective pocket, with something fresh appearing on every listen.
