hedsDAO is a decentralized audio-visual collective. Once a month, hedsDAO will release and auction a collaborative mixtape, created and curated by the community, as its own NFT collection. As an included perk, artists selected to appear on the tape are also invited to mint on Catalog.

Every artist on the tape, curated by heds, has at least one second of the sample in their submission. Public submissions opened the door for artists who we believe deserve exposure in web3. We've saved several slots on the tape for these talented individuals. Each NFT is a 10 minute visual mixtape that accompanies the audio.

GLOWSTONE

Our genesis 1/1 music NFT, taken from hedsTAPE 01.

This song serves as a response to the “musician turned content creator” trope and the need to reclaim power as artists. Lyrically, it mirrors how choked and drained artists are with the current music industry and comments on social media, the algorithm, and the push to be “commercially satisfactory” per the “heads” of the business. In return, there’s a revolution going on in web3 where we see artists at the forefront creating authentic music. This song aims to inspire other creatives to take risks and pursue alternate methods of releasing and creating.

This track is my contribution to hedsDAO's hedsTAPE 03, an audio/visual collection of 10 songs all made using a sample created by Mr. Carmack, and visuals by DEFFIE. I had a lot of fun making this track, and it is extra special to me being that it is my first song in the web3 space.
