pause: the album that i put my life on hold to finish. all ten tracks in one mix.

the reason i titled the album "pause" is because at the time of its conception, my life was seemingly on hold: i had just failed out of college and moved back into my mom's house, my first and last relationship came to an end after my anxiety prevented me from being the partner i needed to be, and i was unsure where things were headed for me in about every way. 

when the project finally released in november of 2016 i was met with an outpouring of support which i had never expected: beyond the incredible response on soundcloud from listeners worldwide, i was featured as the first ever instrumental artist on the cover of spotify's "fresh finds" playlist, the project amassed nearly 30M streams across platforms, doja cat released her demo "eyes on u" using "one day" as the instrumental, milo (fka r.a.p. ferreira) released his album "who told you to think​?​?​!​!​?​!​?​!​?​!" using "chapsitkc" as the instrumental for the intro track, and amber mark sampled the very same instrumental for her song "out of this world". 

almost seven years later, "pause" is the album that my long-term listeners associate with my signature sound and consider my flagship project. 

with its release i had 50 limited edition black and white cassettes made for the album, and the very last one in existence will be included in the primary sale (hand-numbered 1 of 50).

the last song in the pause series, and the instrumental from doja cat's 2015 demo "eyes on u". 

"one day" was made during the last semester before i dropped out of college: i started working on it amidst an extremely debilitating anxiety attack that marked the beginning of the end of my first (and last) real relationship. i've dealt with anxiety most of my life, but it became especially problematic when in a relationship that i couldn't healthily contribute to, as my anxiety was overshadowing every part of my life.

i originally titled the track "one day we'll have to face ourselves", which i later shortened to "one day" (the original title was corny as fuck). while the original name was very corny, the message still resonates with me: to this day i have many deeply rooted issues that i failed to address over the years, and as a result i'm not in the place i could be. i've fucked up friendships, "relationships", and sunk into a weird pit that has been hard to climb back out of, and i know that at some point i'm going to have to address it all. the catch is that the longer we wait to address our issues, the harder it becomes to manage them and regain control; that's what "one day" is about.

included is the last of fifteen ultra-rare turquoise cassettes in existence, which were never sold to the public. 

this is the album that changed everything for me. as part of the release, i was put on the cover of spotify's "fresh finds" playlist, which made me the first instrumental artist to be featured on the playlist. this marked a pivotal moment in music: an instrumental artist being given a platform with direct access to mainstream listeners. 

in the years that followed, we've seen instrumental music change the landscape of the music industry: artists with catalogs comprised entirely of instrumental music now reaching the masses. "pause" marks one of the first tangible moments we saw this happening.
