Harrison and I met on twitter around Aug 2021 (damn, feels forever ago) we connected because of our similar experiences in web3. Harrison launched his social token $FIRST and has been building his community since 2019.

He heard my music, checked out my social token on Rally and we instantly clicked. We didn’t talk collaboration until shortly after but we had a good idea of what we wanted to bring to the world by combining our talents and experience to drop something special.

This is exactly how REAL came about. I had a rough demo of the song and I knew performance wise it was spot on. I scrapped some of my verse parts and made space for Harrison to come and do his thing. He killed it.

The music production on the OG demo was good but I knew it needed to be reworked. Sonically I wanted something cohesive that complemented are parts. I sent the a cappella to my collaborator in Argentina and he did an amazing job at recreating the music and increasing the production value it deserved. Melodically there is a lot subtleties and textures but everything is in its respective pocket, with something fresh appearing on every listen.

When we think about “Chaos Theory” the first thing that comes to mind is control. We think about how all of us navigate the world looking for a little semblance of control in this chaotic world we live in. We want to believe that we somehow have an external reach beyond us that protects us, that guides us, that gives us the power over our lives that we are looking for…maybe we do. Maybe the music and the art, the creativity, the words, maybe that’s how we exercise control in this chaotic world. It is our little mark, we own it. We didn’t go seeking the name “Chaos Theory” it found us, all we did is control what we could control and that was the creation. We kept coming back to that river and drinking from it, slowly carving out a space for something bigger than both of us.

Song Backstory:

I wrote this song with my good friend Teddy Roxpin in January 2022 in Highland Park, Los Angeles. I had been living away from my home town of Vancouver, Canada for the better part of a decade, and didn't know if I was ever going to move back. I transitioned over the pandemic, and since my family was really starting to come online around my new trans identity, I achingly missed them for what felt like the entire decade compiled into the span of just a few months. 

I had this newfound insistent urge to move home; to be with the mountains, the trees, and the oceans of the Pacific North-West - and to be with my mom, my dad, and my sister again. It was incredible to witness this pivotal transformation within myself where I went from not knowing if I was ever going to move home, to realizing that it was the only place I would ever truly have roots to ground me.

While I actually ended up moving home in early April of 2022, this song has become a time-capsule of that shift in my trajectory: I knew that I was going to move home at least by Mid-May. By now, I've been back in Vancouver for just over a year, and both my internal and external worlds are indeed more stable than they ever have been. It's beautiful to reflect, and to confirm that once again my intuition knew the best path forward: going right back to where I had started from.

This drop is my second 1/1 Music NFT. My first was "Prophecy of the Morning Dew" (also produced by Teddy Roxpin), which was my genesis NFT, sold within those same weeks of moving home last April! I have since minted ~30 unique NFTs, with thousands of versions sitting in hundreds of wallets across the web3 ecosystem. I'm grateful for every collector - and I would love to continue cultivating the closeness that can come with 1/1 collector-artist bonds.

The reason I am minting this now is to provide a sneak-preview, as this song comes out on DSPs this Friday, June 16th, 2023. This is the same day that the "Museum of Forrest" drops; a multi-exhibit online gallery of my current body of work, that I've self-curated to portray my journey home.

My intention in doing so is to scrub out my internal tube of self-expression so that my creative work can flow from me in a clear, clean, unblocked stream of personal artifacts. "Duele" fue la primera canción que escribí en español cargada de vivencias personales, basada por supuesto en un corazón roto. Durante un tiempo fue la pieza que más dolor me causó interpretar acompañada de mi guitarra, como toda herida abierta necesitaba tiempo y paciencia para sanar. En enero de 2022 cuando descubrí la Webb3 y comencé a cantar en Twitter Spaces "Duele" era una de mis canciones más solicitadas, recibí todo tipo de feedback para con la canción, el más recurrente era que podían escuchar la verdad detrás de las palabras, comentarios que me llenaron de orgullo, y así comenzó a sanar la herida. 
Caueiro y yo comenzamos a trabajar en la producción del track hace tan solo 15 días y su conexión con la letra e historia detrás de la canción fue inmediata, recuerdo me dijo " siento que estás caminando mientras canastas" y exactamente así se sentía el momento de mi vida que relata el tema, cada paso dolía más que el anterior. 
La magia que trajo Caueiro a la canción fue hacerla más verdad, convertir todo ese sentimiento de realización en música, y yo no puedo estar más feliz con el resultado.

"Luna" es una cancion que habla acerca de los errores que cometemos con personas que queremos. Esta situaciones que generalmente son dereivadas del ego puegen llegar hasta a separar personas que se quieren. Escribí "Luna" en un momento en el que me di duenta que tan mierda podems ser, reconociendo mis propios aspectos negativos como ser humano, y como el ser humano tiene el poder de herir a otras personas.

"Luna" is a song that talks about the mistakes we make with people we love. Situations that are generally derived from the ego can even separate people who love each other. I wrote "Luna" at a time when I realized how shitty we can be, acknowledging my own negative aspects as a human being, and how human beings have the power to hurt other people.

Viernes es una canción cantada, escrita y producida desde tres perspectivas totalmente diferentes.
Fue escrita desde la pseudo-adoración, como tributo, un regalo. Aún así es cantada desde un alma rota que suplica por un poco más. 
La magia que añadió mi talentosísimo productor y compañero Caueiro mientras hilvanaba la historia de la canción, mi voz y el beat fue conseguir convertirlas en una sola, siendo todos los elementos dependientes de sí mismos para poder así seguir cantando y contando.

So this song is just a sample of how strong and powerful we can become if we transform bad vibes into a motivation to be better, to continue working for our dreams and in search of our best version.
