’Ready For This’ was shortlisted from over 100 demos for my latest double album 'There Is A Funeral In My Heart, For Every Man I Loved'（心葬). I was the first song I produced for the album as I loved it so much, but somehow it didn’t make it in at the end. Perhaps it was not ‘Ready’ like it is now - She's ready to become my Genesis Catalog NFT.

I have been here with Catalog since April 2021, and I wonder what took me so long to drop my very first song? Each song has its own destiny and timing; being not ‘Ready’ sometimes leads to the melancholic romanticism I try to encapsulate in my songs.


The Production

I went through countless versions of production attempts by myself and my producer friends to find the answer to the calling of this song. The chemistry was off till my Swedish friend Okazaki had a go at it, and I sensed there was something interesting, but it wasn't 'me' enough for this double album I envisioned, so I took the track back with Okazaki's inspirations. I can’t recall why it didn’t make it to the double album. Now I know is this song was ready then, but I just didn’t know it.
