Waiting on Genius had been floating around Ché's head for years. Half written but always present, Waiting on Genius is the soundtrack of a long and laboured musical journey. Through years of waitressing jobs and side hustles, it was as much of an outcry as it was a confession of worries and self doubt. It took a pandemic to revisit it. Ché found that all of the angst that had surrounded the song for years, was now long gone. Finally able to separate herself from the character in the song, Ché was able to tell the story of a young girl waiting in the wings, waiting on a moment of genius. With additions from her musical peers Morgan Agren (Mats/Morgan, Frank Zappa), Scott Reeder (Kyuss) and Diego Tejeida (Haken), all geniuses in their own right, she finally found the inspiration to move forward and put to bed the worries and self doubt. This is a song for anyone who has ever crossed this threshold. Who has taken the time to craft something, even in the face of their own neuroses.
